About: Arvind-Pal Mandair’s essay “Ideologies of the Christian Secular” in this special issue of Sikh Formations was part of a number of essays that responded to the killings of 6 people at the Sikh Gurdwara in Oak Creek, Wisconsin in August 2012, by a white supremacist. For Sikhs this event, which took place during Obama’s re-election campaign, was a real wake up call. Academics and activists responded quickly producing short essays which were published in 2012.
